I’ve been a therapist for over 30 years and have practiced in Bath for more than 25 years. I specialize in grief and loss issues,  life threatening or terminal illness, and care giver support.  In addition, a large part of my practice includes treating depression and anxiety and helping individuals and families with relationship issues.  I work with adults in individual, couples, and family therapy.

If you have a life threatening illness, or are caring for someone who does, I offer a place to speak openly about your sadness, concerns, fears, frustrations, and pain.

When you’re dying, you experience large and small losses almost every day:  loss of control over your body, anticipating never seeing or talking with your family and friends again, wondering what happens to you after you die.  Often it feels scary or inappropriate to talk about these issues with those you love.  I can listen to everything on your mind without you worrying about my feelings.  Come talk with me.

When you’re giving care to someone you love who is dying, it can be an overwhelmingly complicated, scary, sad experience.  You’re not sure whether to act ‘normal’ like nothing’s different, or to talk about your sadness and feelings openly with them.  You need a person to help you sort that out.  I can help.

Do you want to feel happier, calmer or more in control of your life?  Do you wish your relationships were smoother and more meaningful?

If you’re stressed, down, or overwhelmed I can help you understand why and help you figure out what you can do to feel better.  During our first couple of sessions I’ll ask lots of questions so I can learn about you and about what’s going on in your life. That way I can tailor my treatment recommendations to your specific situation. I work with you to identify how you’ve managed other difficult times so we can capitalize on what’s worked for you in the past, and then combine those strategies with new ways of coping that I teach you.  Through this process I help you to feel your ‘normal’ self and frequently even better than that!
